It can be amazing to find out that you can connect two devices. As technology improves, the electronic world is becoming easier to use. The point is not just being able to connect but also to do so without difficulty.

The problem sometimes is wondering if you can pair one device to another so easily. Our attention in this article is to guide you to understand how easy it can be to pair your Bluetooth headphones to your Mac. Continue reading to find out.

What are the steps to pair Bluetooth headphones with a mac?

You just became the most recent Bluetooth headphones owner, and you are wondering how to pair them with your Mac. Like most devices, Mac can connect with non-Apple Bluetooth headphones in the same way that Airpods aren’t restricted to Apple devices.

Most recent Mac computers have Bluetooth capabilities, allowing you to connect your Bluetooth headphones and listen to high-quality music while sitting in your chair.

Furthermore, Bluetooth headphones don’t require a separate audio transmitter (as with Bluetooth headphones for television) to be connected to a Mac computer.

With just a few clicks, you’ll be on your way to an exceptional acoustic experience, whether you’re using true wireless headphones or standard Bluetooth headphones.

  • Turn headphones Bluetooth to pairing mode.

This process sometimes is different from device to device depending on your headphones’ brand and model. For example, some will require that you only open the charging case, while others require you to press and hold specific buttons. However, most Bluetooth headphones follow the steps outlined below.

  • Search for your headphones’ Bluetooth pairing button. If your headphones have a dedicated button use it; otherwise, you will have to use the power button. If you are unsure about this, consult your headphones’ manual.
  • Then, press and hold on to the button for a few seconds until the LED light begins blinking to make the device visible and discoverable.
  • The next thing you should do is to turn on your Mac Bluetooth

Since the headphones’ Bluetooth is already in ‘pairing mode,’ go ahead and enable your Mac’s Bluetooth.

  • Go to your device menu, select System Preferences, click on Bluetooth to show status, and finally, turn it on.

The two devices are now ready to pair! If both your computer Mac and your headphone has Bluetooth turned on, you should be able to see the list of all available devices on your Mac.

  • Click on the connect button next to the device you’d like to pair. If you carefully follow the steps, the two devices should connect automatically.

Your headphones are now ready to be used.

However, if you cannot pair both devices, there are a few fast glitches you may have to check to solve the issues.

Sometimes Bluetooth pairing doesn’t go smoothly. If the sound in your headphones keeps breaking off and you lose connection, you might need to charge your headphones. If this doesn’t solve the problem, the following steps might help.

  • Turn Bluetooth off and back on.

If your Bluetooth headphones suddenly stop working, check that you have enough charge, that they are not broken, you are within the range of your Mac (usually within about 10 meters), and that your Mac computer is up to date.

If the checks above are fine, you should go ahead and turn your Bluetooth off and on again.

How to go about it:

  • Click on the Bluetooth icon in the upper menu bar,
  • Select Turn Bluetooth Off, hold on for a few seconds and turn it on again. Check the connection to verify if your headphones have paired. If they still didn’t pair, restart your Mac.

It can be surprising to know that simply restraining your Bluetooth ( or device) will do the magic. However, sometimes your connections don’t still work even after the restart. It might be time to do some further and serious work.

  • Ddisconnect all paired devices.

Despite Bluetooth being considered advanced technology, it still has some shortcomings. One of the most common is the number of devices it can support at a time.

Your Bluetooth can link only up to seven devices (highest limit) on a Mac computer, although this is not without a condition. To connect the highest limit of allowed devices, they should all be low data-consuming.

The limit drops to about four or five devices if you link data-intensive devices. Therefore, anytime you are face problems connecting your Bluetooth headphones, your Bluetooth might have reached its limit.

Free your Bluetooth by disconnecting all the paired devices and reconnecting your Bluetooth headphones once again. Freeing your Bluetooth should be able to help. However, if you are still facing problems, you will have to reset your Bluetooth module.

  • Reset the Bluetooth module.

you can do this only if the above fixes don’t help. It will involve doing some serious debugging. You will be required to carefully and patiently do the following as it might be more complex.

  • Press on Shift + Option and click on the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar,
  • Select Debug and proceed to Remove all devices,
  • Select Debug once more, but this time, choose Reset the Bluetooth module and reset your Bluetooth,
  • Finally, restart your computer and try Bluetooth pairing all over,
  • Restart your computer.

After performing this operation, re-synchronize them if you don’t see your earphones in the list of paired devices.

  • De-clutter your device.

As you use your device, its hard drives build junk over time.

These junks usually have a serious impact on Bluetooth functionality, resulting in either a Mac that will fail to discover Bluetooth headphones or a Mac that doesn’t operate at all.

However, the good news is that you can use programs like CleanMyMac X to clean your Mac. This program cleans up old cache files, viruses, broken logs, and other garbage causing Bluetooth problems.

It is quite simple to use this application:

On your Mac, go to System Junk, click Scan and allow the app to finish scanning the whole system. Review and remove all unnecessary files.

Conclusion

Pairing your Bluetooth to any device should be straightforward. However, you might encounter some issues during this process that can be frustrating. These can be due to our impatience or carelessness, resulting in problems that we could avoid with a little patience.

Some of these problems can be technical and beyond our limits to solve. You should contact your manufacturer if all attempts to fix a problem fail, or you might have to seek help if electronics is not your thing.
